The Austin Tourists climbed to the top of the HLC mountain, capturing their first championship in dramatic fashion. After finishing the regular season with a 7-7 record, the Tourists entered the playoffs as the fourth seed and went on an underdog run for the ages.
In the semifinals, Austin stunned the league’s top-seeded Rockport Leatherheads, delivering a commanding 323-234 victory. Derrick Henry and Josh Allen led the charge, showcasing the firepower that made Austin dangerous down the stretch.
In the championship game, the Tourists faced the New Mexico Lobos, who were making their third straight appearance in the title game. Despite losing Josh Allen before the game, Austin rose to the occasion behind a career-defining performance from Derrick Henry, who bulldozed his way to 54 points. Courtland Sutton added 37 points, and Baltimore’s defense stepped up with 31 points to seal the deal. The Lobos, missing Jalen Hurts and CeeDee Lamb, fought valiantly behind Justin Herbert, Trey McBride, and Ja’Marr Chase, but ultimately fell short. Austin secured the championship with a final score of 286-267.

2023 Champs: Michiana Muskellunge
The Michiana Muskellunge captured their first championship in a thrilling 2023 season. The Lobos, defending their 2022 title, looked poised for a repeat. Despite some stumbles during the regular season, New Mexico won the West Division and advanced to the playoffs. They defeated the Austin Tourists in a nail-biter, 265-259, to reach the championship game.
In the East, the Muskellunge overcame their third-place regular-season finish to secure a wildcard spot. They defeated the San Antonio Tacos decisively, 229-182, in the first round.
The championship clash between Michiana and New Mexico came down to the wire, with the Muskellunge edging out the Lobos in an unforgettable game, 301-298. The victory secured Michiana their first league title.

2022 Champs: New Mexico Lobos
In the inaugural HLC season, the New Mexico Lobos set the standard for excellence with a dominant 12-2 regular season. Their momentum carried into the playoffs, where they dismantled the Jaybirds 315-200 in the first round.
In the championship, the Lobos faced the fiery San Antonio Tacos in a high-stakes battle. New Mexico’s consistent performance secured them a 194-164 victory and the league’s first championship.
