I spent the weekend at the Texas Book Festival, wandering from tent to tent looking for a book called How to Write a Engaging Fantasy Football Recap and Actually Do It on Schedule. 

No such luck.

I did, however, find a few other gems:

  2. Intermediate-Level Procrastination: Turning Good Intentions into Long-Form Excuses
  3. The Life-Changing Magic of Lowering Expectations
  4. The Existential Joy of Parallel Parking
  5. Manifesting Debt: Harnessing the Power of Poor Decisions
  6. How to Feed a Dictator by Witold Szabłowski — a reported look at five infamous authoritarian leaders (Saddam, Idi Amin, Enver Hoxha, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot) through the eyes of their cooks.

The first five I made up for comedic effect, but the sixth one is real, and quite fascinating, which is why I was reading that last night instead of writing this.

Anyway, here’s what happened while I was pretending to be literary:

Michiana Muskellunge 156.28 – Jaybirds 92.98
After a rough stretch, the Muskies finally erupted for their second win of the season, powered by Christian McCaffrey’s 34.3 points. The Jaybirds drop to 4–5 but remain firmly in the East race.

Austin Tourists 109.32 – San Antonio Tacos 72.5
The Tourists pull even with the Tacos at 5–4, moving into a share of first place in the East. Josh Allen (28.8) led the way, while the Tacos couldn’t find rhythm despite 23 from Davante Adams.

i²³Σπ 131.84 – Rockport Leatherheads 104.5
The Robiots improve to 5–4 and keep pace in the West behind 27.2 from Jaxson Dart. Rockport falls to 4–5, though Kyle Monangai (22.8) was a bright spot.

Tortilla Flats Troubadours 153.66 – New Mexico Lobos 117.66
The Troubadours climb to 4–5 with one of their strongest showings of the season, led by Lamar Jackson (25.6) handing the Lobos just their second loss of the season. New Mexico still holds the best record in the league and a comfortable lead in the West.
