With the All-Star break turning Week 15 into a two-week marathon (and this reporter taking the prior week off) it feels like it’s been way too long since the last recap. So here it is.

New Mexico 8, Coastal Bend 2
The Roadrunners kept rolling, stretching their West Division lead with a steady performance on both sides of the ball. They took runs, homers, RBIs, wins, saves, and K/BB. But it was closer than the final score suggested. The oilers lost runs by 1, homers by 1, errors by 1, and ribbies by 3.

Boerne 7, Indy 4
In a battle of top-six teams, the Mutts made a statement. They mashed 15 homers and drove in 51, while the pitching staff racked up 10 wins. Indy’s usually sharp offense stumbled to a .193 average, and the Mutts took advantage.

Gallagher Gulch 6, Sinton 5
The Fat Boys survived a scare against the last-place Mullets in one of the week’s closest contests. Despite Sinton’s bats coming alive, Gallagher Gulch leaned on relief pitching, fielding prowess, and speed on the basepaths to hold off Sinton’s upset bid.

Austin 6, Doña Ana 4
The Armadillos needed a big week to stay in the playoff mix, and they got it, though it wasn’t secured until the final moments of Sunday’s match-up. When you don’t Havel quality, sometimes you have to rely on quantity: Austin pitching staff hurled 108 innings to take wins, saves, and ratio categories, edging out the Chihuahuas despite Doña Ana’s power surge (18 HRs, 55 RBIs). It came down to batting average to break the stalemate, and the Armadillos barely ended up on top of that category: .286 to .285.

Rockport 5, Denver 4
The RedFish stayed alive with a narrow win over the Donuts, fueled by strong hitting (16 HRs, 53 RBIs) and just enough from the bullpen. Denver hit 20 bombs and was almost perfect in the fielding department, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

Oahu 6, Michiana 4
The Rocketeers pulled off a surprise against the playoff-hunting Cavemen. Oahu put up a .300 average and took four of five pitching categories and tied on saves, with a sparkling 2.33 ERA. Michiana put up impressive offensive numbers taking runs (61), HR (21), RBI (57), and stolen bags (14). It came down to errors and Oahu was just slightly better on defense, committing only one error to Michiana’s two.

Week 16 Preview: Seven Weeks to Go

Austin vs. Coastal Bend
The Armadillos are hovering just outside the top 6 and will try to claw their way back into contention when they face a dangerous Coastal Bend team thats right behind Austin in the 8 spot. A big swing week for both squads.

Michiana vs. Rockport
The Cavemen will try to bounce back and remain in the top 6 after the Oahu upset, while number 9 Rockport looks to build on their Week 15 win.

Oahu vs. Gallagher Gulch
Can the Rocketeers pull another shocker? They’ll need it against a Fat Boys team that’s sitting in fifth and coming off a narrow win over the Mullets.

Boerne vs. Doña Ana
A heavyweight West Division matchup with playoff implications. Both clubs sit in the top three of the division and top four overall, and a series win here could set the tone for the stretch run.

Denver vs. New Mexico
The Roadrunners haven’t shown many cracks. The Donuts will need their offense to stay hot to have a shot.

Sinton vs. Indy
A last-place team against a second-place team? Normally a mismatch, but after how Sinton’s offense caught fire against Gallagher Gulch last week, nothing’s guaranteed.

In the Money: The Top Six After Week 15

  1. New Mexico Roadrunners (98–52–15)
The Roadrunners just keep piling up wins. They are all but guaranteed to break the century mark this week, and they show no signs of slowing down.
  2. Indy Integrals (78–72–15)
A tough loss to Boerne but still holding on atop the East.
  3. Boerne Mutts (85–63–17)
Quietly one of the most complete teams in the league, and have been making moves to get even better.
  4. Doña Ana Chihuahuas (83–67–15)
They dropped a tight one to Austin but remain a top-four squad with a potent offense. Their showdown with Boerne this week should be a good one.
  5. Gallagher Gulch Fat Boys (80–72–13)
They survived Week 15 and still lead in almost every pitching category. Their formula hasn’t changed: shut you down on the mound and let the offense do enough to win.
  6. Michiana Cavemen (76–72–17)
They took a tough loss to Oahu but remain in the money. The East is tight, and every category matters in the fight for sixth.
