This week’s (brief) recap comes to you from Southern Colorado, where I’m passing through on a swing through the Southwest. I spent last weekend visiting with the owners of the Chihuahuas and Roadrunners in New Mexico (aka Mom and Dad), and I’m hoping to make my way up to Denver soon to track down the elusive Donuts front office.
The Roadrunners stayed hot with a narrow 6–5 win over the Boerne Mutts, while the Oahu Rocketeers pulled off a 7–4 road win over the Donuts thanks to a monster week on the basepaths (11 SB) and a sharp 2.48 ERA. With the win, Oahu finally moves out of the overall PCI basement (If Oahu’s 17-year-old owner were a few years older and we actually had a basement in our house, that line might’ve qualified as a perfect double entendre!).
Meanwhile, the Cavemen thumped the Mullets 7–3 behind a barrage of steals and a clean sheet in errors. The Oilers squeaked past the Integrals 6–5 in a well-rounded matchup, and the Fat Boys held off the Chihuahuas 5–4 in a game where both teams pitched well but the Fat Boys edged them in offensive categories. The Armadillos and RedFish battled to a 5–5 draw.
At least I think that’s all accurate. I rushed this one a bit. Feel free to direct all complaints to the thin air of the Front Range.
That’s it for now. The sun is out, the weather is perfect, and mountains don’t climb themselves. See y’all next week.
P.S. I am genuinely looking forward to writing next week’s recap, when the Fat Boys take on the Donuts.
