It’s been a busy Monday morning, so this week’s update will be short—no in-depth analysis, player highlights, or super clever math puns. I’ll try to get back to that next week. I’ll try not to leave the variables undefined next week.
Week 4 Results
The Roadrunners made a big statement this week, cruising to a 9–2 win over the Armadillos and taking over the number one spot in the standings. New Mexico swept all six hitting categories behind a .289 team average, 9 home runs, and 38 RBIs, and added three more wins on the pitching side to put the matchup away.
The Donuts pulled off one of the bigger surprises of the week, taking down Coastal Bend 7–4. Denver hit 8 homers and posted a .249 average to hand the Oilers their first series loss of the season. Coastal Bend still leads the East, but their margin is getting a little thinner after Week 4.
Indy edged out Doña Ana 6–5 in a tight one. The Integrals hit .304 as a team and held steady on the mound to stay in second place in the East. Doña Ana, meanwhile, remains right behind New Mexico in the West standings and will look to bounce back in Week 5.
The Fat Boys picked up a gritty 5–4 win over the Cavemen, riding a 2.28 ERA and a WHIP under 0.90 to grind out the victory. Gallagher Gulch stays above .500, while Michiana will look to get back on track against Oahu.
Speaking of Oahu, the Rocketeers grabbed a much-needed win, beating Rockport 6–4 despite being outhit .279 to .224. A 2.32 ERA and 1.06 WHIP from the pitching staff carried the day as the Rocketeers picked up their first series victory of the season.
Boerne and Sinton played one of the tightest matchups of the week, with the Mutts pulling out a 6–5 win. Sinton hit more homers (9 to Boerne’s 6) and posted a better ERA, but the Mutts’ big edge in stolen bases and bullpen saves flipped enough categories to sneak away with the win.
Week 5
Looking ahead to Week 5, the Roadrunners and Oilers square off in a battle between the league’s top two teams, while the Armadillos look to regroup against Doña Ana. Elsewhere, the Cavemen meet the Rocketeers, the Donuts face the Redfish, the Mutts clash with the Integrals, and the Fat Boys take on the Mullets.
Standings
Through four weeks, the standings are starting to stretch a little, but it’s still early and nobody’s out of it yet. Coastal Bend leads the East at 26–17–1, followed by Indy, Austin, Michiana, Sinton, and Rockport. In the West, New Mexico takes over at 27–15–2, with Doña Ana, Gallagher Gulch, Denver, Boerne, and Oahu rounding things out.
