Tacos Survive Troubs, Robots Roll Over Muskellunge, Leatherheads Stun Jaybirds, and Tourists Outrun Lobos

Tuesday, October 1st, 2024

Week 4 is in the books, and the competition is heating up. The undefeated Jaybirds have fallen, the Tourists got back on track, and the Tacos narrowly escaped disaster in a nail-biter. With strong performances and tight finishes all around, every game was a battle. Let’s break down the highlights!

Tacos Hold Off Troubadours in Nail-Biter

The San Antonio Tacos barely escaped with a 109-106 victory over the Tortilla Flats Troubadours in what turned into a thrilling finish. San Antonio leaned on RB Kyren Williams (20 points) and WR Michael Pittman Jr. (17 points) to build a lead, but the Troubs made it interesting late. RB Jordan Mason and QB Lamar Jackson both delivered 24 points apiece for Tortilla Flats, but they couldn’t quite overcome the deficit as the clock ran out.

Next week, the Tacos head to Rockport for a showdown with the Leatherheads, while the Troubadours will try to rebound at home against the winless Muskellunge.

i2^3∑π Outlast Muskellunge

The Robots dispatched the Michiana Muskellunge 138-113, thanks to a well-rounded team effort. The Muskies showed some fight with standout performances from WR Jayden Reed (27 points), QB CJ Stroud (23 points), and RB Jahmyr Gibbs (20 points), but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Robots’ offensive machine. WR Justin Jefferson and RB Jonathan Taylor each contributed 20 points, while kicker Younghoe Koo’s 20-point outing sealed the win for the Robots.

In Week 5, the Muskellunge will face the Troubadours in a battle of the basement, while the i2^3∑π prepare for a tough test at home against the surging Austin Tourists.

Leatherheads Topple Jaybirds, Handing Them First Loss

Rockport continues to flex their muscle, knocking off the last undefeated team in the league with a 123-112 victory over the Jaybirds. WR Nico Collins had a career day, racking up 33 points, while RB Alvin Kamara chipped in 25 points to help the Leatherheads notch their third win of the season. The Jaybirds, meanwhile, fought valiantly behind WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (20 points) and QB Joe Burrow (16 points), but their efforts weren’t enough to slow down Rockport’s momentum.

Next week, the Jaybirds will travel to New Mexico to take on the Lobos, while Rockport gears up for a home clash against the Tacos.

Tourists Sneak Past Lobos in Close Contest

The Austin Tourists secured a gritty 125-117 win over the New Mexico Lobos, riding their ground attack to victory. The Lobos had strong outings from Wide Receivers CeeDee Lamb (23 points) and Ja’Marr Chase (17 points), and RB Zack Moss (17 points), but it wasn’t enough to stop Austin’s rushing juggernaut. Derrick Henry stole the show with a massive 36-point performance, while Brian Robinson Jr. added 20 points and WR Stefon Diggs chipped in 18.

The Tourists will head north to face the Robots in Week 5, while the Lobos look to rebound at home against the Jaybirds.

Player of the Week: Derrick Henry, Austin Tourists

Derrick Henry earns Player of the Week honors after a monster performance in Week 4. On his team’s first offensive play, Henry took it 87 yards to the house and never looked back, racking up over 200 combined yards and scoring two touchdowns. His 35.9 points powered the Tourists to a critical win.
