Week 6, Issue 7, October 17th, 2023

In an action-packed Week 6, the HLC delivered one nail-biting contest and three decisive victories. The Jaybirds clinched their first win, the Tacos fended off a New Mexican assault, the Tourists extended their win streak to four, and the Muskies wrecked the Rockport Leatherheads. Now, let’s dive into the thrilling details.

Jaybirds Soar to First Victory

The Jaybirds have finally found the win column as, defeating the i2^3∑π by a razor-thin margin of 115 to 114. It was a close game, but the Jaybirds managed to secure their long-awaited victory, led by WR Cooper Kupp’s impressive 27 points, with additional support from WR Jakobi Meyers, who contributed 17 fantasy points, and Kicker Justin Tucker, who converted all six of his field-goal attempts for 19 fantasy points. On the Robots’ side, QB Justin Herbert passed for 227 yards and 2 TD, accumulating 19 fantasy points. Running backs Zack Moss and D’Andre Swift added 17 points each, but their efforts fell just short.

San Antonio Defenders Hold Off New Mexican Assault

The San Antonio Tacos successfully defended their home turf, holding off the Lobo assault and defeating New Mexico 139 to 117. WR Keenan Allen stood out with 85 yards and a TD, earning 21 fantasy points, while TE Travis Kelce caught all nine of his targets for 124 yards and 21 points. The Lobos displayed a stellar performance from Player of the Week Raheem Mostert, who rushed the ball 117 yards and a TD for 34.2 fantasy points. QB Jalen Hurts added 20 points of his own, but alas, Texas history was not repeated as the (New) Mexican Army couldn’t manage to climb the mission walls and storm the Tacos’ garrison. Lieutenant Colonel William B. Travis would be proud.

Tourists Steamroll Troubadours, Securing Fourth Straight Win

After dropping their first two games of the season, the Austin Tourists have embarked on a winning streak, now with four consecutive victories, making it the longest active win streak in the HLC. Although QB Josh Allen had an uncharacteristically lackluster performance, Tourist WR Adam Thielen, and Running Backs Travis Etienne Jr. and Kyren Williams stepped up, contributing 28, 23, and 21 fantasy points, respectively. The Troubadours struggled to find the endzone, with newly acquired TE Dalton Schultz leading them with 16 fantasy points. This reporter wouldn’t be surprised to see the Troubadours undergo sweeping on-field personnel changes in the upcoming week as they aim to salvage their season.

Muskies Wreck Rockport

The Michiana Muskellunge continued their dominance, winning their third straight game and maintaining their first-place position in the standings. Despite a strong performance by Rockport QB Tua Tagovailoa, who passed for 262 yards and 3 TD without interceptions, they couldn’t overcome the high-powered Muskie offense. Michiana WR Amon-Ra St. Brown led with 124 yards and a TD for 30 fantasy points, and the speedy Tyreek Hill added another TD and 28 points. Michiana emerged victorious with a score of 140 to 117, solidifying their status as one of the teams to beat this season.

Player of the Week Honors

In Week 6, Player of the Week honors go to New Mexico Lobos RB Raheem Mostert, who carried the ball 17 times for 115 yards and 2 rushing TDs. He also caught 3 receptions for 17 yards and a receiving TD, showcasing his dynamic skills while amassing 34.2 fantasy points.
