Week 2 in the Hoosier Longhorn Confederacy (HLC) delivered another round of gridiron excitement with thrilling victories… and a fair share of injuries.

San Antonio Tacos Heat Up

In the I-35 Showdown, the San Antonio Tacos hosted the Austin Tourists and emerged victorious with a 139-114 win. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the charge for the Tacos, delivering 305 yards and 2 touchdowns. The reliable Keenan Allen hauled in 8 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tourists quarterback Josh Allen notched 23 fantasy points, throwing for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns without an interception while RB Rachaad White added to the effort with 73 rushing yards and a touchdown. But at the end of the day, the Tacos were just a little too spicy for the Tourists, who fall to 0- 2 on the year.

Lobos Fall Short in a Nail-Biter

The New Mexico Lobos faced off against the Tortilla Flats Troubadours in an electrifying matchup that kept fans on the edge of their seats and ended in a 103-99 loss for the Lobos. Quarterback Jalen Hurts showcased his skills, amassing 193 passing yards and 3 total touchdowns. Wide receiver Ceedee Lamb was a standout with 11 receptions for 143 yards, contributing 25 fantasy points. The Tortilla Flats Troubadours started new quarterback Trevor Lawrence after losing Aaron Rodgers for the season. Star RB Christian McCaffrey was a force to be reckoned with, contributing 22 fantasy points with 116 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. Wide receiver Marquise Brown added 17 points, grabbing 6 receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Despite the defending champ’s effort, they fell just short in this nail-biter of a contest, making it an unforgettable clash in the early weeks of the HLC season.

Muskellunge Still Swimming Strong

The Michiana Muskellunge continued their impressive start to the season, defeating the Jaybirds with a commanding 156-111 victory. Quarterback Lamar Jackson delivered a solid performance, tallying 22 fantasy points as he threw for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns without any interceptions. On the ground, running back Saquon Barkley added 63 rushing yards and 2 total touchdowns before leaving the game with a right ankle injury. As of press time, Barkley is expected to miss at least 3 weeks.

The Jaybirds, while falling short, had their share of standout performances. Quarterback Joe Burrow contributed 15 fantasy points, throwing for 222 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Star wide receiver Davante Adams had a productive day recording 6 receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown while Justin Jefferson added 25 fantasy points to the mix with 11 receptions for an impressive 159 yards.

Robots Smash Leatherheads, Chubb Out

In a challenging matchup against the i2^3∑π, the Rockport Leatherheads fell short with a score of 135-94. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showcased his prowess, accumulating 22 fantasy points by amassing 249 passing yards and a touchdown while rookie running back Bijan Robinson delivered a strong performance, contributing 21 fantasy points with 124 rushing yards… but it wasn’t nearly enough to slow down the Robots high powered offense. Quarterback Justin Herbert delivered a commendable performance with 305 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson led the receiving corps with 11 receptions for 159 yards. Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel added 6 receptions for 63 yards and a rushing touchdown, as the i2^3∑π emerged victorious, securing a convincing win over the Leatherheads. In some bad news for the winners, running back Nick Chubb suffered a severe knee injury that will require season-ending surgery.

Week 3: Fish and Tacos Battle for Top Spot in the East

As Week 2 comes to a close, we look ahead to the intriguing matchups on the horizon for Week 3. The Tourists are set to face the Jaybirds with both teams looking for their first win. i2^3∑π will battle the Troubadours and try to stay perfect on the season, while the Lobos will try to stop their skid as they face the Leatherheads. In the game of the week, Michiana will travel to San Antonio to take on the Tacos in what could be a high scoring shoot out as both teams look to remain undefeated and take control of the East.
